I’m Raquel Val, and I’ve lived in six countries and traveled to over forty

I believe that traveling is one of life’s gratest investments

Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved traveling. Growing up in a multi-cultural family, I was exposed to different traditions, languages, and cuisines, which sparked my fascination for learning about different cultures.

Alongside my love for cultural diversity, food has always played a significant role in my life. Some of my most cherished memories involve culinary Christmas traditions, like eating jamón expertly carved by my father, pounding rice to make mochi with my Japanese grandparents, and making hallacas with my whole family.

These deep-seated interests have led me to live in six countries—Venezuela, USA, Mexico, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Spain—and travel to over forty. I have focused my education and career on the travel industry.

I earned a Postgraduate degree in Hospitality Management and worked in luxury hotels in Barcelona, where I honed my skills in customizing recommendations to fit individual preferences.

Adventure

I enjoy connecting with nature by embarking on various adventure activities and tours. Scuba diving is my absolute favorite, as it allows me to explore the vibrant underwater world and encounter marine life up close.

In addition to Scuba diving, I have a deep love for hiking. Whether it’s trekking through lush forests, climbing rugged mountains, or wandering along scenic coastal trails, hiking offers me a chance to immerse myself in the natural beauty of each destination.

I also enjoy trying out different adventure tours, depending on what each destination has to offer. From zip-lining through dense jungles and kayaking in serene lakes to paragliding over stunning landscapes and exploring caves, I’m always eager to embrace new and exciting experiences.

Culinary Exploration

I immerse myself in the local culture through food, always on the lookout for authentic and delicious restaurants, street food, and markets. For me, exploring a destination’s culinary scene is one of the most enriching ways to understand its culture and traditions.

Whether it’s savoring a plate of pad thai at a bustling street stall in Thailand, indulging in tapas at a cozy bar in Spain, or sampling fresh sushi at a local market in Japan, each bite tells a story of the region’s history and people.

Unique Accommodations

I believe that the hotel you stay in significantly enhances the overall travel experience. This is why I love staying in boutique hotels, as they offer a more intimate and authentic connection to the local culture. Boutique hotels tend to be located in vibrant neighborhoods, giving me easy access to local attractions and allowing me to experience the daily life of the locals.
